Our Review

The Boar's Head is an old Coaching Inn. It is part of the Ripley Castle Estate and one of the Great Inns of Britain. It has 25 en-suite bedrooms and in its newly refurbished dining area serves deliciously wholesome food using local produce from the Castle’s kitchen gardens wherever possible. The staff are encouraged to wear a smile and make all guests feel welcome – nothing is too much trouble.

The Boar's Head is an old Coaching Inn. It is part of the Ripley Castle Estate and one of the Great Inns of Britain. Lady Ingilby has a fine eye for style and detail which explains why each of the twenty five en-suite bedrooms are individually decorated and furnished and contain the sort of trimmings you would expect at an Inn of this quality. Toy boats have been provided in each bathroom so all guests are able to push the boat out during their stay.

Dining at The Boar's Head has just undergone a dramatic transformation. The main Dining Room has been redesigned into a contemporary setting and the Bar has also undergone refurbishment. A new and exciting 'Brasserie' style menu has been introduced. Dining at The Boar's Head is now more appealing than ever.

Food is incredibly important, with a huge focus on using local produce and suppliers. Lady Ingilby's pen is mightier than the sword and all new seasonal menus are heralded by a bombardment of food tastings as wave after wave of new ideas are forwarded for approval. You will never be bored when dining at the Boar's Head as the menus change regularly to capture the essence of each season.

The Wine list is personally put together by Sir Thomas Ingilby who enthusiastically spends months finding the right wines and making sure he tastes them all! Traditionally brewed local ales and an invasion of Highland and Islay Malts ensure that whatever your tipple your memories of the Boar's Head will always be good if somewhat blurred.
